Introduction to the Department of Academic Appointment and Promotion of Professors
In general, the Department of Academic Appointment and Promotion of Professors in public universities of Afghanistan is an administrative unit operating under the Office of the Academic Vice Chancellor. It is responsible for managing and organizing matters related to members of the academic staff (professors). This department plays a significant and fundamental role in establishing administrative and academic order and coordination between professors and university administration. It deals with processes such as determining academic rank, promoting and confirming professors’ ranks, and coordinating academic programs and meetings.
Main Duties of the Department for Coordination of Professors’ Affairs:

Managing and organizing the appointment, promotion, transfer, and separation of professors in accordance with laws and regulations.

Ensuring that laws, regulations, bylaws, procedures, and academic standards are properly implemented during the recruitment of university academic staff members.

Organizing and managing Academic Council meetings according to the approved schedule (calendar).

Preserving and supervising administrative documents and records in the files of academic staff members.

Updating and monitoring the academic staff database.

Maintaining close cooperation with the Academic Vice Chancellery and other universities to facilitate professors’ academic affairs.
